Canadian-born Josh Newton has dedicated his life to the game of hockey. He played three seasons of junior hockey in both the United States and Canada, and also competed professionally in the ECHL with the San Diego Gulls. With more than 24 years of coaching experience working with teams, groups, and individual players, Josh has built a strong reputation for leadership, skill development, and commitment to the sport. As a Level 5 USA Hockey Coach, he is recognized as an expert in his field. In 2022-2023, he was honored as the ADHSHL Coach of the Year.
Newton Hockey offers both small group and one-on-one training tailored to each athlete’s development needs. Areas of specialization include passing, stickhandling, body checking, contact confidence, faceoffs, shot blocking, shooting, battling, edge work, power skating, and muscle memory development.
Training sessions are designed not only to enhance technical skill, but also to cultivate strategic thinking, leadership abilities, and both mental and physical endurance—preparing athletes to perform at a high level in all aspects of the game.
With the ability to coach both beginners and Olympic-level players, Josh delivers a dynamic, high-performance training experience tailored to each athlete. He creates an engaging, high-intensity environment that challenges and inspires players to push beyond their limits. By combining technical precision with real-game application, Josh helps athletes sharpen their skills, develop hockey IQ, and build confidence under pressure.
His approach goes beyond fundamentals—focusing on decision-making, competitiveness, and consistency—ensuring players translate development into game performance and elevate their play to the next level.
